Pay it Forward

The theme of this movie is, "try to help others." The message that I think this movie is trying to say is that you will always get something back in return when you help others.

Trever was the most interesting character because he tried to make a change in this world. Him also carrying about helping others instead of himself, made him unique.

For part 2 of Pay it Forward, I would have different kinds of characters that would come out more like the students in Treve's classroom and also the guy that was arrested after trying to help a person. I would have them express themselves when Treve's was filmed.

I really feel that this activity did have an affect on how the 9th graders treated each other this past week. I have seen people act more friendly with each other, and there hasn't been any serious arguments. People have been giving good faces to others. Before this "secret angel" thing, I felt there was a lot more evil faces. What I think that would happen if this activity involved the 10th and llth graders, is that we would be able to see there nice side. I do see some 10th and llth graders who are nice, but I want to see more from them. If we continued this activity for the rest of the year, it will help all of us continue being nice with others, and having a stronger relationship with others.

I think my selected one, "secret angel" is Victor. These past few weeks, he's been extra nice to me than he normally is. During curriculum skills, he's always talking to me, and helps me out with my homework. Then yesterday after school, we were also chatting. Another thing I've noticed is that he's been saying, "Hi" to me everyday when I see him around campus. Lastly, he's also helped me out in ethnic studies class. This is so many clues, I know it's this person!!!

selected one

These pass two weeks I have done so much for my chosen one. Some of the things I've done is that I've said, "Hi" to this person every single day. I have also done the secret hand shake that people have here at AV. During Algebra class, I have also asked him for assistance. I also let him borrow my eraser and led pencil. Not only did I let him borrow my eraser in Algebra class, but also in curriculum skills. Morover, I played soccer with him in the morning. I also have asked this person everyday how they're doing.

Guest speaker #1

1) What did you think about meeting Joe Hicks?
To me, Joe Hicks was an amazing speaker. I though he would be strict, and cruel. But he really wasn't cruel because he helped us to participate a lot, and I learned a lot too.

2) What qualities does Joe have that make him a leader?
The qualities that Joe Hicks has is being concerned of what young adults and adults thinks are the communities biggest problems. Also by visiting lots of schools shows he's very involved with things. Another quality is him being a leader for over 30 years.

3) Why do some leaders change their philosphies?
Some leaders change their philosphies because their brained washed by others. Or sometimes they don't know what to do next, because they're confussed.

4) Is Joe Hicks an example of good leadership. Why or why not?
Yes, he's a good example of leadership because he's been involved in so many organizations for over 30 years, and is still in them. He also is concerned by what people of different ages believe are the biggest community problems, rather than just a certain age.

Wow, it's finally friday again.......I like friday afternoons, but not its morning or day time. Every friday I need to take at least three tests! I don't like tests at all. The good thing though is that I'll have my environmental test on monday. But I'm nervous to be taking my math test next period. I feel like this week I didn't really take my time to actually study for every single class. I've been running out of time, which means I need to go over managing my time again. Then'm also having an ethnic studies test next period, and I'm nervous too because Joe Hicks is coming to visit us.
